About the course
A signaller is the person who gives the crane operator instructions about lifting the load, positioning it, or directing the crane hook. Today, under the safety at work regulations and instructions, only a certified signaller may do signalling work, and only a signaller may supervise the work and operation of the different kinds of lifting machines.
In the course you learn how to communicate effectively with crane operators, using voice commands or agreed signals, so that lifting and moving are done correctly. You also learn to deal with the visibility challenges of lifting equipment operators, and to guide them safely when distance, height or a blocked view make it hard for them to see the load.
Practical training is a cornerstone of the course: you gain hands-on experience in signalling, lifting loads and rigging, in a controlled environment.
